Webmail Setup using Outlook Express

It is more convenient to access your webmail this way and it gives you greater control over spam emails.

  1. In Outlook Express click on "Tools" "Accounts" "Add" and "Mail"
  2. Enter your details as shown below, substituting your webmail address etc
    details on first tab
  3. Click the "Servers" tab and enter your details, substituting mail.yourdomain and smtp.yourserviceprovider
    server settings
  4. Click the "Connection" tab and check "Always connect to this account using:"
  5. Select the default connection using the down arrow
  6. Leave the details on the "Security" and the "advanced" tabs, and click OK "
  7. Click "Close"
  8. Test your connection by sending yourself email from your default adddress

One advantage of using this method is that using message rules, email can be automatically directed into a folder that you create specifically to separate your webmail from your personal email, and then deleted from the server once it is received into Outlook Express, thus keeping the webmail inbox clutter-free. Another is that you can get rid of spam more effectively.

Internet Service providers

Some ISPs do not allow foreign servers email access. In this case, you could try phoning them to ask for an exception.
